Norma A. Meyer, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born on March 24, 1932, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late James and Norma Williams Young. On May 1, 1948, in Bellefonte, she married Richard D. Meyer. Richard passed away on July 8, 2000.
Norma attended the Bellefonte Area High School. She was a member of the Coleville Wesleyan Church. She was a homemaker.
Norma enjoyed being in her home, cooking, baking, and sitting on her porch watching the birds. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits.
Norma is survived by her two daughters; Linda M. Shaffer and her husband, Robert, of Huston, TX and Darlene K. Daughenbaugh and her husband, Steven “Doc” of Bellefonte. She is also survived, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen A. Riley; two sisters, Cora Meyer and Carol Shuey, and one brother, William Young. Norma was the last of her generation.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 10-11am at the Coleville Wesleyan Church, 326 Lower Coleville Rd, Bellefonte. Memorial service will be at 11am at the church with Pastor Ron Kilgus officiating. Burial will be at Meyer Cemetery.
