Obituary for Suzanne Day (Hanlin)

Suzanne Day, 64, of Centre Hall, originally from Delaware County, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at home. Born on September 28, 1958, in East Lansdowne, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Mary E. (Lavendar) Hanlin.

Suzanne graduated from Lansdowne Aldan High School and went on to earn her associates degree in nursing from Delaware County Community College. She worked as an LPN for many years at various nursing facilities and home health care, retiring from Centre Care most recently.

Suzanne had a close relationship with God and spoke with him and prayed daily. She enjoyed drawing and illustrating and had a love for music and all forms of comedy. She loved to laugh. Animals always held a very special place in her heart and that compassion was passed down to her children. She enjoyed her daily walks around town with her dog, Girlie, and her trusty cat, Ollie. She was full of humor, and you could always count on her sarcasm. The one thing she loved and was devoted to above all else were her children. She was kind, understanding and forgiving with a heart only filled with love. To know her was to adore her and her memory will be cherished by many for years to come.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Jessica A. Matthews and partner, Matthew Pugliese, of Pottstown, PA and son Robert A. Matthews IV and his wife, Jenna Coyle, of Media, PA; her step grandson, Kevin Dougherty of Philadelphia; her sister, Marianne King of Media, PA, her nephews Brian and David King of Media, PA and her children’s father, Robert A. “Bear” Matthews III and his wife, Lois Matthews, of Brookhaven, PA, and by life-long friends as well as her cherished friends and neighbors from the Centre Hall area.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her dear partner, Edgar “Buddy” Crisp.

Following Suzanne’s wishes, services will be private.
